    Bio: Dr. John R. Parks

Update: Instructor at the Golf Academy of America - Arizona Campus
                             PE:250 - Anatomy, Biomechanics, Exercise

Dr. Parks graduated in 1972 from Salem College, West Virginia with a degree in Physical Education
and Biology. He played varsity football and after college had a free-agent tryout with the NY Jets.
While playing semi-professional football a knee injury ended his career hopes. For the next year and
half he was a fitness instructor at European Health Clubs in N.J.

Dr. Parks deciding he wanted to advance my career. He attended N.Y. Chiropractic College. After
graduating in 1977 he began private practice in Somerville, N.J. Dr. Parks was hired as the Team
Chiropractor at Somerville High School. At that time he was the only chiropractor who was employed
by a high school in the state.  Dr. Stover, an orthopedic surgeon, who was familiar with his work,
invited Dr. Parks to be a guest lecture at Rutgers University. Dr. Parks was invited to be a lecturer to
area high school coaches to teach prevention of sports injuries.

In 1982 Dr. Parks, being an ex-athlete, needed to take up a sport and golf was his choice,
that after the urging of a friend and coach Jerry Moore, a PGA golf teaching pro.
Dr. Parks than began studying the golf swing mechanics and found himself treating
    his club's teaching pro.

After 7 years with the high school and being introduced to golf Dr. Parks decided to move to
Phoenix, mainly because of the weather and golf. He began a private practice in 1984 and was also
an instructor at the Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College. There he taught Kinesiology and sports
injury care and prevention. Dr. Parks' old knee injury finally caught up with him and he had to have
total knee reconstruction. This required a year  of rehabilitation. He returned to work at a back
rehabilitation center where he worked with a physical therapist to develop an exercise
    program for back pain.

Dr. Parks returned to private practice and in 1994 and continued my studies and developing an
exercise program for golf, his true passion. He participated in the Re/Max long drive contest and
researched the physics of the golf swing and club design with an engineer at Golf Smith. The
information and software program he received gave him much information about club fitting,
design and what is needed to improve driving distance.

It's with this background and passion that I feel qualified to help those interested in improving their
game with conditioning and training their body while improving skills with a teaching professional.
